I would say that it is good...but you might want to get 1 1GB RAM stick if it will not be dual channel

And what speakers are you getting?

oh whoops...it is dual channel

JUst so you know, that mobo does not have SLI.
If your not planning on two video cards its excellent

well i never plan on using SLI, as of now no game requires that much power, the most demanding game that i'll play for now is probably hl2

520W skimpy? I run 3 harddrives with 300W, I don't know how he would have problems with 520W. Although it could be a lower quality psu, and have bad amperage ratings.

ok so lets take shipping to be $100 leaving you with a budget of roughly $1000

- AMD Athlon64 x2 3800 [S939, manchester, ada3800daa5bv, $320]
- lanparty ut nf4 ultra-d [$135]
- pqi turbo 2X512 [[email protected], $80 after $20mir]
- XFX 7800GT [$280 after $20mir]
- nec 3550 [$40]
- xClio 450w [12@32a, $50]
- Maxtor Diamondmax10 250gb [16mb, ncq, $115]
subtotal = 1020

hands down better box. yeah its overbudget but you can also do a bit of trimmage :)

why the hell would you do that?

just so you know, that mobo does not have sli.

even though sli is more marketing mumbo jumbo than anything else really...

power supply may be skimpy; otherwise, that looks good
well lets have a look... its got 12v@35a... certainly not skimpy...

520w skimpy? i run 3 harDDRives with 300w
wattage means crap all. read PSU 101.

I don't know how he would have problems with 520W. Although it could be a lower quality psu, and have bad amperage ratings.
Seems like you just answered your own question

It looks fine to me...in general the ones that have pretty lights are higher quality.
I dont know if thats a honest mistake, sarcasm or ... how to say this nicely ... an overextension ... but lets have a look at this pretty-light 500-whopping-watt PSU ... with the crappiest rails ive seen for its class in a damn long time.

I just have never seen a psu with rails like that....in my (previous) experience (which is not a whole lot:rolleyes: ) I have seen that cases with lights have better cooling and PSUs with lights have better rails....i dunno why I thought that, maybe because they are designed for the computer builder who would want better equipment....who knkows. BUt anyway I was saying that the wattage should serve him fine, but I didn't know what the ratings were cause Newegg didn't have a picture of the sticker...............

Looks like he's done it again :D

For the umpteenth time :) It is not like I care, I am used to it because I just seem to have a sign saying "pick on me and prove me wrong in every way possible" hanging from me :D

Fair enough ... it just seemed like a really "out there" generalization (and you and I both know about generalizations :P) For the most part, you'll find the reallly good PSUs done have ANY lights on them or if they do its very minimal :) You'll also find that really top end PSUs try to avoid modular cables as they deviate from ideal resistances :)
- Minimal [OCz Powestream]
- Minimal [PC Power&Cooling 510SLI]
-None [Enermax Liberty]
As soon are you start getting into the fancy schmancy power supplies with all sorts of bling, ya gotta start looking more closely at the numbers :

And we love you for it :D

...im sorry. I just thought Prator owned everyone...including me...
I have a way of doing that ;)

Yes, you need someone to pick on :P You really crack me up, Praetor

I have a way of doing that ;)
I hadn't noticed

Realistically, you should have a look around on Newegg or wherever for some prices and then see what you can get as far as most-bang-per-buck goes :)
