Thunderbird + Gmail IMAP

Hi, I set up my gmail to IMAP with Thunderbird, but it's not quite like I want it. TB creates a Gmail folder where I can use the IMAP functionality, but it also puts a copy of everything I get in the local Inbox folder. I'd rather not have to go to Gmail>All Mail (Gmail's version of Inbox) to check it, I want it to go straight to TB's inbox, but also still have IMAP functionality. Any way to do this? Let me know if this doesn't make sense please.
 
Does this make sense? Basically I want my Gmail folder to be the "root" TB folder. Right now, I have to go to Gmail>folder name in order to use the IMAP functionality. I want to just go straight to the folder.
