Thunderbolt and PC

I posted the thread below in Operating Systems by accident. I think this belongs either on this post or Motherboards. Can anyone help? Thanks

I've noticed that some newer graphics cards and mb appear to have a thunderbolt connection on them. I just don't know if they would work in the scenario I'm describing, starting from scratch.
