Time for a CPU upgrade soon?

When It comes to gaming, I'm clueless as to how good a CPU needs to be to not be a bottleneck. Is my CPU gonna hold me back at all if I, say, got an X1900XT? P4 530 @ 3 ghz with HT. If so, what would be an upgrade compatible with my motherboard? (not sure how to check what board I have.....)

download everest home edition to determine what motherboard you have.

By your specs, it should work... But yeah, best to double check :P Oh, and with such a video card, you'd probably also need to upgrade your power supply...

Too lazy to type this down, so

Would it be possible to get an AMD processor in there?

EDIT: WHOOPS! I just realized I posted this in the video card section....

This is your HP correct? If it is, and you want to get an x1900 card, you are deffinetly going to need a better power supply.

That CPU will be holding you back a little, but its not going to be a huge bottleneck.

oh well, I either wanted an AMD X2 Processor or a Pentium D, so I guess I'll just go with the Pentium. I'm not actually going to buy an x1900, I just bought my X700 a month ago or so. I bought that as a temporary card, so I can actually play games at decent graphic levels. I'm going to upgrade again once the DX10 cards come out, then I was gonna upgrade my CPU and PSU along with it. Does anyone have any idea when dx10 cards will come out? I'm just guessing around when Vista comes out.
