I'm not a big gamer, but i usually play a few of the big titles each year. I'm becoming annoyed with these games that are PS3 only release, or Xbox 360 only. I owned a 360 a few years ago, and sold it after less than a year. The build quality is terrible on those things, there seems to be a very high failure rate and microsft isn't going to do much about it. The PS3 may not have the same problems, but i don't like most of the games on there anyway. I shouldn't have to buy someones $&%^ty budget machine, when i have the know how to build my own. Yes I know, it's a free market and these companies have the right to exclude content from whichever platforms they choose, but i also think 75% of the time it has nothing to do with the extra investment it takes to make it compatible with all systems, and more to do with their fear of piracy. If they didn't charge so much for these games, you might have people who are less inclined to steal them. Video games is dominated by the kids and young adult market... mostly people who don't have $60 to just throw around.
My question is, what can we do as gamers to let these companies know we will not be forced into buying a sub-par quaity system, just to play a particular game? I'd love to think someone is reading these complaints, but in most cases i think it's just tossed aside. On that note the DRM a lot of companies use now is so intrusive, it makes people not want to buy games. I'm not for just blatanty stealing software, but i'm smart enough to know you're not going to stop it. There is not a game out there that has not been successfully cracked, so all this DRM seems to do nothing but annoy it's paying customers. For ex: I won't buy Cyrsis for the simple fact that they are going to tell me how many times i can install it... it's just not worth it.
