The computer that i put together doesn't doesn't boot up. When i plug the power cable in and push the power switch nothing happens. The only thing that happens at all is the power light on the motherboard comes on when you plug the computer into power.

My Computer :
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Opteron 165
EVGA e-GerForece 7600 GS Video Card
2 DDR400 1GB Crucial RAM
250GB Western Digital HD
Rackmountable Antec Case

The only thing that I can think of at this point is that my processor is not compatible with my motherboard.

Your CPU is compatible, or else it wouldnt have fit the socket. Otherwise, check all of your connections.

Make sure all the power connections have been plugged in, particularly the 4 pin ATX12V and the front panel power switch.

Make sure you've connected these properly:

The motherboard is getting power. I double check those connections and according to the mobo manual i have the power switch, reset sw ect... jumpers on the right pins. I still dont get anything when i hit the power button. At first i was confused as to what color wire was positive and what color wire was negative. i looked on a website and it said sometimes the colored wires are positive and the white and black are negative. ? I'm still not sure.

Hmm well if everything is connected correctly, trying switching the ram around to the different sockets. Some mobos are just weird about stuff like that. After that, try clearing the CMOS. Look at your manual to see how to do this.

This just happened to me just 2 days ago. I gave my daughter one of my computers that I built a year ago. She calls and tells me that after hooking everything up and pushes the power button nothing happens. The power light on the mob was on. I checked the leads to the mob, then the switch itself. I took an old power supply out of the closet. Put that in and it took right off. The power supply in that computer up and died. All she did was take it from my house to her house. I recently purchased a spare power supply and a tester. Power supplies usually show signs of failing but sometimes they just up and die.
