And because Windows 8.1 requires new training.Makes sense to go with 8.1 Pro now since it's the newer OS.
The reason why most businesses (in my experience - my father is an IT engineer and manages IT for some local small businesses) go for 7 Pro over 8.1 Pro is because some of their software isn't guaranteed to work on 8.1, or isn't supported by the manufacturer on 8.1.
But if your software will work on 8.1 then I say go for it.

Not really, when I upgraded to Windows 8 it took me a while to know where things were. I couldn't believe how long it took me to find where Microsoft Update was... I ended up downgrading after a couple weeks because I just couldn't get used to it.Haha lol.
Well anyone who knows a little bit about computers will know how to use Windows 8 without trouble.
It took me 10 minutes to find everything I needed and wanted.
I have to agree with STARS, not really a problem for someone that knows how to use Windows. Not really, when I upgraded to Windows 8 it took me a while to know where things were. For someone who barely knows how to launch programs, W8 is horrible.
I see Windows 7 having a bit more longevity. They had already specified support to 2020, at the current rate I wouldn't expect the same for 8/8.1U1
Support for Windows 8.1 ends on January 20th 2023...

Ah good call. Apparently my Google-fu is pretty weak and I gave up looking after about 30 seconds.
That'd probably be the wiser choice then to go with 8.1 as most companies will drag it down to the wire, as we have seen recently with Windows XP.
Windows 7 is Start > Programs > Windows UpdateI have to agree with STARS, not really a problem for someone that knows how to use Windows.
BTW, in Win 8 Windows Update can be accessed from the EXACT same place it is in Win 7, Control Panel->System and Security->Windows Update. Why do people insist on making Win 8 harder to use?
Until Windows 9 comes out. Windows 8 is like Vista, not ready for prime time.So you are on Windows 7 right now?
If yes,for how long do you plan to stay on it?
Just like XPI am really curious as to what Windows 9 will be like...![]()
