by todays standards what hardware is generally required to play new pc games (like FEAR?)

I'm looking to buy a new laptop or desktop pc and was wondering if there is a standard out there?

Would any of you reccomend buying a laptop for gaming? My budget is around 4000 dollars.

Also are there any good buying guides out there that would help me?

Dont give him such old information.

A high-end laptop by todays standards would include an Intel Core Duo / AMD X2, 1GB-2GB RAM, 15.4"-17" LCD resolution: 1680x1050+, Two 7900GTX's in SLI, DVD Burner, and more...

well you go then mr.gates.
Bill Gates never created or manufactured computers, he designed and coded OS's.

Therefore, calling [-0MEGA-] Mr. Gates is invalid.

i honestly appreciate the help you guys have given me.

all this techno babble has me going crazy I really need to do some reserarch on it.

I'm running a very very weak machine right now, im on dial up and I have OCD so you can imagine my frustrations. haha

For $4000 you could get all of the fastest parts for a desktop, laptops cannot compare to desktops in gaming power, and probably never will, because of power limitations. I highly reccomend a custom build, you get more bang for your buck, and the system is exactly how you want it.

i think that one day is talking about 2500 aus and digitalstar is where i bought my laptop and it is great. i recommend that if anyone in aus is trying to buy a laptop get a custom one from digitalstar
