too good to be true?

I saw this laptop online at CompUSA today, and it seems too good to be true, here are the specs:

Compaq Presario
Pentium 4 2.8Ghz
512MB PC2700 (max 1.25)
60GB hard drive
DVD Burner
ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 w/64MB
15.4" Screen
1x Firewire, 3x USB 2.0
memory card reader
10/100MBps lan port and 54MBps wireless card
56K modem
windows xp home

all this for $499.98, they dont have it there anymore, then did have it this afternoon, but i think that sounds too good to be true.

no, there were no rebates, that was the actual price. It said it was a clearance item, but i would still expect that type of machine to cost more then that.

They were probably trying to get rid of them so they could order a different model, so they offered them at cost or close to it. If that sounded good to you, you should have nabbed one.

thats what i was saying to myself, if i had the money and it was available, i'd buy it in a heart beat.

anyways, yeah staples buissness depot always has incredable deals too on clearence stuff but by the time i try to buy its sold out. i suspect people check like as soon as the page updates and just buy them out.
