Too Good To Be True?

Perhaps some of the other members would be better suited to answer this, but I believe Dell Operating System disks are OEM versions so it would be a violation of the OEM License to use this on your PC. Although it may very well work, OEM licenses are typically tied to the original motherboards if I'm not mistaken.

Anyone else care to chime in here?

Nah, I really think that it's a genuine question rather than an advertisement.


If they say it works on any system, then I would assume it does. Newer computers, if they come with a disc, generally it will only work on that same model of computer, but we had an older Dell that came with an XP CD that worked on any computer. However, I am 99% certain that those CDs are not meant to be sold or resold with anything other than a Dell computer.

Finally someone got to the heart of the matter. Those disks probably came with a Dell computer originally and now someone is trying to make a buck on them. In a broad sense of the term, you could call this piracy. If not that then strictly illegal.

I think the original poster should continue the search for cheaper original software.
 
My local walmart is selling Windows XP Home w/ SP2 (not the upgrade, but the full edition) for $129.99.

This could be a good deal for someone who doesn't mind losing all Microsoft support at the end of the year :)

Also, I'm told that this $129.99 price is valid across the franchise, so it should be the same at your local Walmart.
