Too High a Resolution

Simple question here. Can your resolution be too high? My laptops screen default resolution is 1680x1050, and everything is very small. What do you guys think?

Hehe no its not..its 25/20 (right/left eyes with glasses) But I didnt change anything when I got my laptop, so I stuck with the 1680x1050.

yeah the resolution can be too high, but hey if i had a monitor with 2048/1280 i'd sure as hell use it

I always go as high as i can with the best refresh rate (or the native res of the LCD). Keep it at that or it will look even worse if you turn it down.

800x600 is big for me, 1024x768 is normal. but 1680x1050?!?!?! wow! You eyesight must be awesome!
It depends on the size of the monitor you know.

I had a Dell laptop with a 15.4" LCD that handled up to 1680x1050, and I used it.

If text and icons are too small, just increase the size of them, theres no reason to lower the resolution.

Its simple fixes like that, that always evade me..thanks.

The smaller the better for me. Right now at work the highest res I can get is 1280x1024 - id love 1600x1200 tho. I love having a lot of workspace, I often have a lot of windows opened.

That's really high.... I use 1152 x 864 on my Nvidia Geforce 6150LE and it is perfect... I have this old Gateway VX900T that I salvaged from my Moms Gateway... It displays pretty good.

1600x1200 for me...gots me a 24" Dell...now if I can just finish getting the new computer built it'll be even better with an 8800gts running the show

Taking a step back, I wonder what the source of the question is...

The subject is about using a high? resolution, and my thought is why?

If the reason is to increase the amount of workspace, one could also always consider adding a second monitor.

This is a great way to have multiple apps open in a functional enviroment, without making everything so small you want to break out the old-school magnifying glass.

And with the lowered cost of flat panel monitors (especially an used 17 inch or so), it is both cost effective and space efficient!

Just tossing in my two cents! :)
