Too Many Volts!!

if you are able to (you can't change it on most if not all OEM systems) it will be a setting in the BIOS called VCore
 
is thermal paste a must? :o
is too much heat on the cpu.. well, can that cause it to freeze not having
thermal paste :confused:
cuz i get to the point where im installing windows, and it just freezes :mad:

you should have some sort of thermal conductivity thing on it, be it paste/grease or a pad. Heat can usually cause it to freeze or even shut down
 
I added more heatsink compound adn it really cooled off.. but everytime i saved and exit'd BIOS the monitor didnt display anything.. and when i downloaded windows it said there was no hard drive..
the hard drive i have plugged in has power and a Serial ATA cord coming out and i plugged the sata cord into the sata1 spot.. wtf?

I am assuming the hard drive was the one used before reinstalling xp correct....if not, you may have to partition and then format it......it could be the reason that you are not finding it

Yes not all MOBO have native support for SATA HD's you need the drivers for it. If you don't have them you need to go and download them on to a floppy and install them when your computer prompts you to do so.
 
would that fix my monitor problem?
and can you kinda explain it a little easier?
the hard drive i using is an OEM SATA western digital drive from www.newegg.com
i was using that to install windows on.
should i have reformatted my old hard drive before i put it in my
new comp?
are there any configs that dont come on default for BIOS that i should change?

my mobo said it was sata/ide. :confused:

Depends on what is causing the freezing. Usualy a system will destabilize very shortly and then within seconds shut down if its heat related

If it stays frozen then its not a heat issue (although there could be one still)

Uh,.,, you took off the old stuff first right? And for cooling, what were/are the temps

You need to load SATA drivers (press F6 during install)
