top old gen VS mid new gen

i see lots and lots of people saying mid range new gen card beats top old gen card. especially about x850xt/pe VS 7600gt.

many people brag about 7600gt..... and says it can beat x850xt/pe.... fales!

x850xt/pe is much faster than 7600gt..... it beats 7600gt in speed.... in speed alone. x850 is a raw speed.... i repeat x850 beats 7600gt in speed! speed alone! the only thing that 7600gt beat x850 is the features.... 7600gt is newer and more features.... but slower in speed.... so do u cho0se speed or feature???? well i cho0se speed over features! why cho0se feature when the speed is lacking? why cho0se feature when u cant even run games smo0thly?

if u planning to play those future shader 3.0 games on a new gen low end to med end card such as

- 7600gt
- 7600gs
- 7300
- x1600xt
- x1600pro
- x1650pro
- x1300

u can rethink!!!!! sure those r latest generation card that features shader 3.0 but it aint enuff to handle shader 3.0 application! due to its low pixel fill rate, texure fill rate!!!! and shader operation!!! memory bandwith etc... u will play with choppy-ness and suffer!!!!! those card is go0d for nuttin!!! and if u gonna use those cards jus to play current shader 2.0 games..... it aint the top performance and aint worth the money! those card aint go0d for current shader 2.0 nor next gen shader 3.0! y pay much for a card that no go0d in neither shader 2.0 and 3.0? u can get top yesterdays gen x850xt for about the same price! or less! and get the best of current shader 2.0 games!

if u planning to play with current shader 2.0 games for a long period of time.... x850xtPE is the best of the best bang for ur bucks! x850xtPE is a fact that it is the very very top shhiiet card for yesterdays generation! max performance for shader 2.0 applications!!!! not even 6800ultra can withstand its power!

many people is giving to0 much credit for the 7600gt.... i mean 7600gt is a great card.... for budget people.... wait... not even go0d for budget people! budget people should get x850xt/pe! anyway 7600gt might be ok.... but it cant compete with x850xt/pe! its jus ovious!

so if u planning to play newer games with pixel shader 3.0..... u better get atleast...

- x1800xt up
- 7800gs up

or get x850xt/pe for the best performance on current shader 2.0 games! its affordable!

me.... i play mostly current games such as unreal tour 2004... tribes vengeance.... all max settings... and sometimes gothic 2.... and espeically mmorpgs..... so x850xt is for me! but in future ill probly upgrade to high end new gen card.... but until then.... x850xt is superb for me!

oh and i hear some teenager from other board saying x1600pro is equally to 6800ultra LMAO! people need to realize that newer does not always mean better!

My friend the 7600GT uses a new architecture
If you compare the specs of 6800GT with 7600GT, the 6800GT has better specs because it has more pipelines, more memory bandwidth and more vertex shader. But in benchmarks, the 7600GT gets more FPS than 6800GT. Also the 7600GT is even 5%-10% faster than 6800ultra in gaming.

If you want to compare the 7600GT with X850xt, the 7600GT can beat beat the X850xt in some games and vice versa.

So, we are not just talking about features. The 7600GT is faster in some games than X850xt

What do you mean by saying "aint enuff to handle shader 3.0 application!: ??

My friend, most of the current games can take the advantage of SM3.0, and they run on SM3.0 card without problems

And if you know the splinter cell double agent doesn't run on shader model 2.0 cards. So, if you have X850xt it will not be able to run it


so if u planning to play newer games with pixel shader 3.0..... u better get atleast...

I have 6600, and I play [SIZE=-1]Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth II on 1024x768 on medium setting. And this game can take the advantage of SM3.0.. Also, games like FARCRY v1.3 take the advantage of SM3.0 and you can play them on high setting with 7600GT and 6800GS.

So, I don't agree with you, the 7600GT and some older cards can play [/SIZE]pixel shader 3.0 without problems.

unreal tournament 2004 and tribes vengeance are very old games. The 7600GT can easily Max up those games. Even the 6600 can max these old games.

The X1600pro is the worse mid ranged card ATI ever released. The 6600GT can still beat the X1600pro in a lot of benchmarks. So, of course the 6800ultra is far better than X1600pro
