Top specs for a new build suggestions please

Hello All,

I used to build computers years ago mainly for my self and if any one asked, for them too but sort of slipped away the past few years. Last computer I build was an Athlon 64 or somthing in the XP days so I'm a bit of a noob these days :D.

Anyway, a friend of mine want's me to build a computer for his son he just said the top specs no expense spared. So I was wondering if any one had any suggestions for an ultimate gaming machine? I'm guessing it will be an i7 but what is the best mobo, gpu, good ram, solid state disk?, blueray drive, and if I have missed anything let me know.

This is no expense spared and he just wants "the best of everything" were his words.

I agree with the i7 4470k. The best graphics card is the GTX Titan, but you can get nearly the same performance for a few hundred € less if you buy the GTX 780.

CPU: Intel I7 3970X
Motherboard: ASRock X79 Extreme 11
Memory: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 64GB
GPU: Nvidia GTX 690 Because it has better gaming performance versus the Titan, anyday! If he wants the Titan, get him one. If he wants the best, quad titans are awesome.

As for hard drives, Samsung 840's easily over anything else. SAMSUNG 840 EVO, 750GB.

When someone tells me to build them a rig, top of the line, your looking at at least $10,000 to get started. But hey, I pay $300 a month for my car and know people who spend that on two cell phone lines. :eek::eek:
