Toshiba a100 underclocked x1600?

My friend just bought a Toshiba a100 laptop and we noticed that the x1600 in it is running at about 394/375sih instead of the 470/470 which mobility x1600s are supposed to run at. I'm guessing that Toshiba underclocked this.

-Is there a way to get the clocks back up? (either with overclocking software or with a driver)

-What tool can we use to get a temperature readout of the graphics card?

Thanks a bundle.

PS. the overdrive ability doesn't show up in the ati control panel, so i'm guessing that option is out.

that is not uncommon for a laptop to underclock a video card. The mac book pros, and some HPs do the same thing. I think it is probably a overheating issue with the cards stuffed into a laptop.

How did your friend get a Toshiba a100 notebook with an ATI x1600 gfx??? They only come with Nvidia 7300 or 7600 cards.

Yes, we tried the omega drivers and they produce the same 3dmark06 score and the same graphics card clocks as toshiba's drivers. We also can't seem to overclock with ATI Tool. It's disabled or something.
