Toshiba A135?

Looking around for a new laptop. Going from a wonderful fully loaded Sony, but outdated (3.5 yrs), to probably a Toshiba. I love the Sony, but didn’t like the preloads and I think I could better for the price. I also bought a rather large screen, so I wanted to try the 15.4”.

Looking for: Portability (traveling tri state and need to be connected, esp. NY), Security (very important), Battery life (need to be on batteries approx. 6 hrs. a day), budget (slightly flexible 1300-1500, depending on product)

Looking at: A135 – S4467, S4477, S4487 (love the expandable memory option), or other recommendations; extra battery, car charger

Questions: Do I need the S4487 and is it worth the money? Could you recommend a laptop that meets my needs? (Could be other companies)

BTW: I am not a gamer.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. I might as well. Looking at the Vista I would most likely opt for the Business pack. Don't need the movie options. Thanks.

I don't know much about Toshiba's so maybe someone else can tell you if what you chose is good. All that said, I would recommend this one from Lenovo also known as IBM. I got this from www.lenovo.com

Hope this helps

Yikes. Someone help. I configured the Lenovo to be the same as the Toshiba A135 S4487, but the difference is...
Price Lenovo at $2298 T60 (15") or T60 Widescreen (15.4") at $1578
Price of Toshiba at $1150
Anyone familiar w/ these models???? I would like to purchase a laptop by the end of the week. Thanks...
BTW...price was not including extra options and both at 6 cell battery, not 9

All I can tell you is in the Toshiba one for there to be 220GB hard drive I am sure they are using something called raid 0 which will make your hard drive speed slower.

And if there really is 2 hard drives of 110GB each the laptop will be pretty much heavy.

Thanks for all your help... isn't the thinkpad you picked a 14" screen? That seems so small. Why the price difference betw. T60 and 3000 N100? I was hoping that since the Toshiba was decently priced, it wouldn't bother me so much to spend another $150 for their 8 cell battery. So confused...
Anyway, this is from Toshiba
220GB HDD: 100GB + 120GB* (5400rpm, Serial-ATA) hard drives
Don't understand raid 0

Ok forget about what I said about raid 0. The T60 is more expensive because there is some features the N100 3000 doesn't have such as: Thinkpad roll cage, Active System Protection, Shock mounted hard drive, client security solution, ThinkPad UltraNav multipointing system, and Wireless Wide Area Network Integration. Anyways here is more info about these things the 3000 N100 doesn't have: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...-category-id=8FA114A7D9FF4F38AE8E19B36EC665A7

Just scroll down the page and there will be links that explain what I just said in more detail.
