toshiba equium a200-15l wont boot

hey i'm new to the forum

my laptop wont boot. the screen just remains black

the power light comes on fan spins for a few seconds then stops then nothing

disc tray opens if i push button

i've swapped the ram with known working ram

i've plugged in external monitor , no signal comes up

can any1 advise what to try next, i've got another one in the drawer with a smashed screen so i've got parts i can use

this is a long shot but try removing the battery and unplug it... plug the battery back in and try booting it up.

Sounds like something on the motherboard is bunk.
 
if that is your model, i would... you got nothing to lose really both of them are busted you cant break them anymore. Unless someone else has an idea about whats going on.
