Toshiba laptop doesn't recognize any HDD, "Media test failure"

I have a Toshiba Satellite A210 laptop and the HDD was apparently ripped out of the HDD bay (not by me). The HDD no longer works - but neither does any HDD I put into it (I've tried 2 working HDDs so far). Whenever I turn on the laptop I get this message after the POST:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Operating System not found

I've made sure that booting from LAN is the last option in the boot order, but it doesn't make a difference because the BIOS doesn't recognize any HDD. I've checked the pins on the SATA connectors on the laptop and they look fine, I don't see any damage. Everything seems to be working fine except no HDD is recognized. I've disassembled the laptop and made sure all cables are connected. I've ordered a CMOS battery online and will put the laptop back together when it arrives. The current CMOS battery only gave me a max of 0.2 volts when I tested it with a voltmeter, so I'm hoping that the new CMOS battery will fix this problem.

Sorry for the long post, but I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions/ experience with this problem, replacing the CMOS battery is the only thing I could think of.

Can you see any visible damage to the HDD bay?

You might try reflashing the BIOS on the motherboard but it's possible that the whole motherboard would need to be replaced.

I don't see any visible damage. I was hoping I could fix this without replacing the motherboard because it wouldn't be worth it to spend the money. Once I get the new CMOS battery I will try to flash the BIOS with the latest version.
