Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 power problem

Hello, my laptop neither charges the battery when it is plugged in, nor works without battery. The laptop is Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437. It charges only when I close the laptop lid or when is off. When I turn it on, it doesn't charge even when idle, as if it works on battery. If I plug the cable out and plug it back on when the laptop is running, the icon in the tray menu shows that it is charging but only for a few seconds then it stops, when I hold the mouse arrow over that icon it says "plugged in, charging" but it doesn't. Have anyone had the same problem, is there a solution for that?

Could be a bad battery or you have in issue with the interior charging components which means the motherboard would have to be replaced, or get a new laptop.

Thanks for your answer, I don't need the battery, but the fact it doesn't work without one is strange, because I use my laptop as a desktop computer anyway, so I don't need the battery.
