Toshiba Satellite Broken Screen

Hi there,

So my son dropped my Toshiba Satellite (can't remember the model, it is only 4 months old, and is at a computer repair place) anyways, I removed the screen and discovered it is a Samsung screen? I bought the laptop new from BestBuy about 4 months ago. I ordered a new screen from laptopscreen.com and tried to replace it myself, ended up breaking the gold connection. So I decided to take it to a computer repair place, only for him to tell me that the cord had been rewrapped in electrical tape, on the inside of the laptop, post-factory. Does anyone have any idea about this? I can only think that BestBuy sold me a refurb. laptop as NEW.

Thanks.

Believe it or not Toshiba doesn't make mainstream LCD panels anymore.
Samsung is still one of the leading manufacturers. LaptopScreen.com's FAQ section has a lot more on that.

As far as telling whether your LVDS cable was refurbed or not, if you want to post some pictures, it would help, but really is irrelevant. Just find out the part number for the cable (should be on it), and replace it by buying one from eBay or through Toshiba.

(I hope I'm understanding this right - that it's not the screen's connector, rather the LVDS cable)
