I bought this laptop for myself around christmas, and ever since i got it, i've noticed some bizzare CPU spikes that seem to pop out of no where. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and my specs are: Intel Celeron 900 @ 2.2GHz and 2.19GHz, 2 gigs ram, and a 64 bit system, but for example i play an older game, (Like Half-Life 1) and the cpu goes nuts. running at 100% the whole time, but my last computer which was a windows 2000 made in 2002 ran it no problem, CPU never spiked. But this computer is just making me confused, stuff like browsing the web, 70-90% CPU usage, i haven't put much on it other than my school stuff and a few Steam games. When i turn it on(since i've got it), it runs at 100% cpu for the boot up(my boot is only 58 seconds though) I've tried to catch what is doing it, but whenever i get to opening the task manager is shoots down. Is my CPU just crap? Or is there something im missing here?
 
I'm also using Microsoft Security Essentials(because it's free mainly), and when i do scans it runs at 100% as well. Some times it'll drop to 70-80% but for an hour it was hovering 75-100% CPU usage during the scan?
