So i am pretty sure my video card in my laptop is f'ed up. It is not a problem with the screen itself because i have tried plugging it into a normal monitor and the problem is stil there. The resolution is all screwed up, there are lines all over the screen, colors are weird, and blotches everywhere. So i am assuming it is most likely the video card. What does everyone else think?

Also, where should i buy a new video card for the laptop? where will be the cheapest?

If in fact it is the video card. You will have to get the mainboard replaced. All the notebooks I have worked on I have only seen one make that had a replaceable video card and that was a pent 3 HP 4100 and 4500.
More then likely it might just be the drivers. Have you gone to toshibas web site and DL drivers ? it is usually under support then drivers sftwr DL
Post the model of your notebook and I will look if you can not find it

ok which ones should i try to download? also, it is hard because i can barely read the screen and the computer runs like absolute shit. resolution is horrible as well.

ok i installed it... the computer restarted... still looks the same.

i am gonna try and get a picture of it if i can to post.

also, the resolution is all screwed up, so i can only see like half my desktop icons and they are huge

You were right all along...well the drivers were worth the try. You might want to double check to make sure the vid can not be removed, otherwise a mainboard replacement is the only option. I know when I replace a notebook mainboard here, we sometimes can get a " core " exchange, where the old mainboard is sent back with a RMA as opposed to buying a mainboard outright

I will email our parts guy that orders this stuff. I am completely removed from this part I just repair them. Notebooks can be really tricky to get apart.
Where I am it is almost quiting time so I probably will not know till tomorrow.

Most notebooks suffer there demise because of a broken LCD. You may want to see if you can find one like that on ebay then just take you lcd and hd and swap them over. I sent the email to the parts guy, he is probably asleep in his office, have not received anything back yet

Sorry had a lot of on sites to do.
Parts guy is not giving up his sources
Are you going to change out the mainboard ?
you might want to start googling stuff like toshiba < model numer > parts
or toshiba < mod number > mainboard ...or motherboard ...etc
