Toshiba Satellite r15-s822 problems

We were just given a Toshiba Satellite r15-s822 however, the previous owner had dropped it causing the jack on the mother board (where you plug the power cord in) to break. we originally sent it to a computer store to be fixed, but was told that the mother board needed replacing. she had tried to resolder a new jack, however, she said the laptop was still not turning on. I have now pulled the computer apart and need some advice on what my next step should be. should i replace the motherboard? are there any test i can perform to verify it is the motherboard that is bad vs it maybe still being the power jack.

just a side note. i took a look at the power jack and saw there were 3 available prongs for her to solder the connections to, however, it appears she has only used two. she may have replaced the jack with a universal one (doesn't seem like it was made for this computer) and maybe only 2 of them needed to be used?

i can take pictures upon request if needed

thanks to anyone who can give some advice

Find a buddy or a used computer store that has a battery charged ,,see if they will let you plug it in.If it works with the battery. Its probably not the mother board.

Ive replaced a bunch of power jacks.

You need to make sure you have the right jack.

These guys are great and dependable.

The guy on the previous post is absolutely right you need to check and see first if your system will run with a charged battery, if it won't you will have to buy a new board from ebay or if it will run fine from the battery, feel free to send it over to us at http://www.powerjackrepair.org
