I am trying to connect my Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 (which I bought last week) to a new Linksys WRT54Gv8 wireless-g router. The laptop, however, won't connect for an "unknown reason" that cannot be diagnosed by Vista. Since the connection failed on more than one router, it is probably the computer itself. So is this a Vista problem? I am probably going to get Geek Squad because it's free with my warantee, but they seem to be a pain to obtain so I was hoping the Interwebz could help D:

For what i've read the problem i think is your wireless card in your laptop basiclly it's it cant read all routers i had the same problem i but i didnt do anything to fix it cuz my router works fine on myne. Not sure if that's the problem but that's what i think it is.

First thought, do you have security on your router? Do you have anything else on that router? If not, can you disable the security for the moment? Does the Vista connect now?

If not, can it see the router, and can it tell it is unsecure?

If it can't see the router, not a router issue (unless you are not broadcasting, but we will assume otherwise).

Can you disable your firewall for a bit on the laptop and try to connect again.

Can you connect to another router, say Panera or something?

Keep us posted.

when i bought my sister a toshiba u series at best buy it came without the wireless driver. see if that's your issue. i had to install the atheros driver from their website.

toshiba uses either atheros or intel for the wireless adaptor

other than that if you p2p a bunch with your linksys router then you may have to unplug/replug the router for it to respond appropriately.... unless you've already patched that issue with hacked firmwares

edit:
looks like you have v8.... sorry it's not possible [yet?] to use hacked firmwares for your router.
