hey guys

got a laptop here toshiba satelite p100 . i can't get sound from it. all the thing in its windows vista are working fine , i've checked device manager , control panel , sound properties. everything's working fine. even when i play a mp3 music file on media player , the "equlizer bars" goes up and down.
but i can't hear any sound . it is to me exactly like when speakers are not plug to computer.

any idea ? am i ignoring something on this laptop ?

(the device manage shows the sound device (has only this line : conexant high definition audio)

(don't know how happened, my uncle said i brought it home from work , and it has no sound)

you probably got the manual volume control set to the minimum, look for it on the front panel of the laptop.

I assume you checked the mute button right? Both s/w as well as a mute on the laptop?

Another thing to try is to plug in some speakers or headphones, do you get sound there? If you do, then it could be the laptop speakers themselves. If you don't then it may be a driver issue.

Do you hear any beeps of any kind when the system boots up?

Good luck
