Total and Available Physical Ram

i have 768 mb of ram but when i went on system imformation, it says total physical ram 768mb and another that say available physical ram which is only 390 mb of ram, i am really confused can someone please tell me whats going on?
 
Yea it is an OS they a GUI, graphical user interface, this includes all the processes which makes you computer basically run, and probably some stuff you don't realize is on there.
