total newbe to mac

Am thinking of getting the 1.33GHz PowerPC G4, 512MB DDR, 40GB, DVD/CD-RW, Mac OS and have heard it is discontinued is this true.
If so what will this mean for upgrades, software etc, any draw backs??
I plan to do moderate beginner music recording with it.

Well it's no longer in production as many older model laptops. As for parts, they will be available for some time so you shouldn't have to worry. But if you're buying new, it should come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty if anything goes wrong... within the 1st year. Upgrades such as RAM and HD or whatever, can be upgraded in the future if desired and are common components. No need to worry. ;)
