totally wipe my hdd

i want to wipe my hard drive so everything is gone completely ! whats the best way to do this what software do i need ?
 
enter your windows disk and compleatly full format the hard drive then quit setup when done.
 
If you were selling the drive or the entire system you would want something that would guaranty a total wipe of all data. Then you would be looking for a drive eraser like Eraser or Active Killdisk. To simply wipe all files off for a reinstallation of Windows you can use the XP or Vista installer, download the free Linux drive tool known as GParted live for cd, or any other drive partitioning software like Partition Magic(retail) for this.

These are time savers compared to the old way of using a zero fill utility that "takes forever" writing binary zeros to a drive of any size! :eek: How about waiting all day long for an old 13gb drive? no way! :D
