So my touchpad on my toshiba laptop just didnt work one day when i booted up. I went to the mouce properties and it looked like there wasnt a driver or whatever installed, there was nothing. I will probably call Toshiba tomm. but if anyone can help before than that would be cool because those tech dudes never speak good english and i dont like to call them.

I can still use a wireless mouse..

i think what koff2000 is trying to say is, did you try using the FN function button with the key that turns on/off the touch pad? e.g. with my laptop i press fn and f7 to turn the touchpad on/off

hope this helps

Try going to their support site and searching for drivers usually they have them specifically to the computer's s/n. Also go into the device manager and have it scan and see if its got the touchpad installed or if it finds and tries to reinstall it after that. Also when in the device manager look for a yellow ? and see if its just lost what the touchpad is.

i did a full system recovery adn it didnt work, so im pretty sure its a hardware. Since its not a software prob, toshiba said they would fix it, but i do not want to ship it off and be without a computer for several weeks. I bought the insurance plan from Circuit City, and they are supposed to fix or replace anything wrong. Does anyone think they could do this quickly and in the store or will they probably ship it off too?

HAHA i wouldnt ever trust my computer in the hands of cc or best buy. Those guys have no schooling whatsoever!! My guess is you know 10x more then the average user there...

A touchpad should work as a standard mouse(typically PS/2) Have you tried booting to any other environment that might support it. Did the system restore have a mouse option? Or maybe a cursor that didn't move?
