my new laptop, a hp g6065 has one of them synaptics pointing thingies on it. touchpads. whatever they're called
its gone a line running down the right hand side which is used for scrolling, and its broke. after 3 days!
i have no idea what the problem might be. i've tried updating the driver in windows vista, but that option is greyed out. windows vista syas something about symantec or summat like that not working, but i have no idea what to do as i'm not the best in the world at computers. any help would be appreciated!

cheers.

PS. it actually says windows cannot connect to the synaptics pointing device driver

Very odd! It might be a problem with the hardware. Your laptop is under warranty, I am assuming. I would advise that you send the laptop in for warranty work. Usually with hardware, if it works when you use it and then "quits", it can't be a driver problem unless you somehow alter the driver by moving or deleting it or reinstalling the driver.

It's not your problem, it's the manufacturers. As part of the purchase price, you paid for warranty work. Send it in and make sure they get it right.
