Touchpad ribbon cable ripped - Advent 7090

Hey. I was recently trying to fix my friends laptop when i noticed the touchpad ribbon cable was broken in the middle (will upload a picture as soon as i can find the cable for my phone). Anyway, i was wondering does anyone know where i can find a replacement cable? are they a standard size like IDE cables etc, or are they laptop specific?

You mean the cable that connects it to the motherboard? If so, I think they're manufacturer/touchpad-type specific. If not, what the hell do you mean?
 
yea thats what i'm talkin about. tried pc world, parts master, a load of other pc shops but having trouble finding one. Anyone know any good places for specific parts? sureply SOMEWHERE will have one. I will phone advent aswell.
 
try searching ebay for the same laptop and look for spares and repairs, I bought a HP zd8000 for next to nothing because the system board had water damage and all major components were missing but the bits i needed to repair mine were fine (battery bay, screen casing) Ive still got a shit load of spares for future use. you might get lucky.

Even typing in touch pad cable brings all these up :-
