Transfer DATA from Laptop to Desktop

Hi All,

I have a laptop and desktop.now I want to transfer the data from laptop to desktop through LAN.I dont want to use other option.can you please guide me how to setup lan and what I required?which cable i need and how to setup.

do you have a LAN set up at your home or office or wherever you will be doing this? if so, (from my experience) simply make both computers join the network and you can almost drag and drop files from one computer to the next

are you using windows?
if so, there is a wizard in setting up a network in "my network places" which will allow you to set up a network and allow you to transfer files from one computer to the other
