I have had my pc for about 3 years now and its getting cluttered up. Im wanted to format my hard drive C: drive. I have a spare 20 GB hard G: drive drive that has already been formated and i put it in my computer. Can i copy and paste all the files i want to save from my C: drive to the empty G: drive. Then format C: drive reinstall windows then copy and past them back G: drive to the C:. Im asking because i have over 10 GB of music tones of pics and programs that i saved the setup files for. If i was to put all this onto disks it would take way to many.

Yep, there's no problems with that. It's certainly the easiest way to back up some data to reformat.

wow thats awsome!!! I have been avoiding reformating for a long time because i was afraid i would have to put everything on disks. it would take way to many disks.

really? How many gigs of data do you have? It only took me about 3 DVD's to back up most of my important data.

no i dont have a dvd burner? I could put the music on cd's as mp3s but still they would only hold close to 200 songs thats still a lot of cds. Plus the other hard drive is just a spare one I had laying around. Puting the data on the hard drive sounds faster and easier.

Just to let everyone know, moving my important files to another hdd to save for the format worked great. I took my pc down to a local computer repair shop and got my hdd formated and WIN XP PRO with service pack 2 put on my pc for free "thats awsome". I came home and moved all my files back over and its like having a brand new computer but still have all my important programs and info. Thanks for the help!!!:D
