I have a large number of songs I would like to transfer from one computer to another. I do have a flash drive but it is only 256mb;) What kind of cable do I need to just transfer the data right from the computer?

you would need a COM cable. THats what i used and now both computers HDD show up in my computer

Wow, been a while since i've seen one of those. There's a USB version that does the same thing, but faster. You can also use a firewire cable, if both computers have a firewire port.

IMO the best way, assuming both comps have network capabilities, is to buy a crossover cable (only a few $) and transfer files over a network. These days it's pretty much plug and play with WinXP. Just plug it in, share a folder, and transfer to that folder.

That seems easy enough. I've been searching for one but still cannot find one. Is it just called a crossover cable? Well I'll keep looking. Thanks!

By make one, he means cut off the end of the ethernet cable, and basically rewire it. You can't do this without a crimping tool, which would be far more expensive than a cable.

An ethernet cable is basically the same as a crossover cable, just with a different pin configuration.
