Hello CF. Im in a bit of a situation. Ive got my new Build up and running and im trying to get files from my old XP drive but since i cant boot into XP, i have to drag and drop. Im using Windows 7 Ultimate and when i open a folder, for example the My Pictures folder, i have to take permission of it and when i do, the pictures inside need to be taken control of too. this would take way too long and unnecessary.

So is there any way to take control of the whole drive and everything in it? any software to use possibly?

Thank you to anyone who can help :)

You should be able to do this once by taking ownership of all the files on the c drive. When you set permissions, did you make sure that all files and subfolders were checked? I haven't did this on windows 7 yet but I'm assuming its similar to XP taking ownership.

When i do that i get messages that pop up while its adding permissions that say access is denied on all the folders.

ok so appearently the dvd i made of partedmagic does work because it was still in my drive when i rebooted and it loaded. however i dont know how to use it. so im gonna have to learn

I just thought if you had another XP machine you could have burned your files to cd/dvd. Then transferred plus have back-up.
