Tri-boot Vista, 7, Linux

Hello,
I have a gateway laptop with vista HP, 32 bit instaled. I downloaded and easily installed Win7 on a 2nd partition for daul boot. I'm interested in adding on Linux (probably a form of ubuntu). For the dual windows boot, i didn't use GRUB or LILO, the installation just did it itself. It seems to be once the windows has started up a little, since if i put my comp. into hibernate, i only can boot into the previously booted OS. If i just do a GRUB Ubuntu install, does that mean that I will get a Grub OS selection between Windows and Linux, and if i select windows, will I then be given the option between 7 and vista? Is this the right way to install it?

TIA
