trouble formatting my harddrive

" Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N) "

this is the error i get after i say yes to formatting... i think its because i have a virtual z drive, but i forget what program i used to create it, so i dont know how to remove it.. lol, yeah... what can i do?
 
hmm, find the program u used to make that virtual drive u use for cheaping out games, and delete the virtual drive
 
are you trying to format the hdd with windows on (c drive)
if so you have to do it from the windows cd during bootup but you will need to reinstall windows
