Trouble installing IE6

I have tried many times without success to install internet explorer 6. The installation process proceeds quite normally until the end when a message pops up stating "the following components could not be installed". That list is just about everything that I was trying to install. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks.......Chris

What OS are you running? and what version of IE do you have?
 
I'm running Millenium Edition for an operating system and currently have internet explorer 5.5. I need to install ie6 to run verizon DSL and have been unable to do so. Please help if you can.........thanks. Chris
