Trouble logging into forums.

Whenever I try to log into a forum it doesn't work (that's why Kuzba is posting this for me.)

It doesn't matter if it's phpBB or VBulletin or anything else for that matter... it just goes back to the login page like I'm not logged in. The first time I try it says that I am logged in at the bottom of the page (users online) but I can't make new posts (or administrate in my Linux Forums.)

The next time I try logging in it just adds a guest to the list of current users. I tried deleting cookies and it worked for a minute and then it stopped working again. No matter how many times I delete cookies it doesn't make a difference.

Also, it doesn't make a difference whether I use FF, IE, or Safari... they all do the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks!

im pretty sure he cleared everything, like disk cleanup and stuff, but ill advise him on the adware scanning.
 
I'm here on a different computer (meaning that I didn't get the problem taken care of.) Now it seems like it only happens with vBulletin, meaning my forum works, but CF doesn't. Thanks for the help and thanks for posting, Kuz. :)
 
well it is how the cookies are setup. See they are served with a cool glass of milk :P:D.
no but the cookies are setup on the domain www.computerforum.com so to the cookie, computerforum.com is a different website

i also understand that your jokes will probably never win any awards hahahha :D jk

this happened to me a while back. It took me forever to figure it out.
Its really strange, i dont like it but doesnt matter, i just got in the habbit of typing www. when i go to computer forum. Im one of those people who hate typing www. and like safari cause often it will put in .com for you :D

Oh damn I never though of that!

This is why I had troubles loging in on my brother's PC! lol it makes sense now :D
 
Seems like quite a few people have had this problem...maybe someone (mod/admin) should sticky it or change the cookies (would that screw everyting up)

haha well yeah i never type stuff without the www.

it annoys me for some reason.

like a mildly obsessive habbit hahaha
