troubleshooting dead computer, any help?

My old Emachines T2984 computer has died.
Turn on the power switch and nothing happens.
No lights, no beeps, no fans, nothing.
I have built a new computer, so this is now a winter fun project, trying to get this old one going again.
I have tried removing the memory, replacing the power supply, disconnecting all drives and peripherals, no soap.
And yes, I have checked the power switch and leads.
The little blue led on the motherboard comes on, but that's all.
Is there any way to determine if the problem is in the motherboard or the CPU other than substitution?
Any other suggestions?

I had the same problem when building. My problem was the power connection to the motherboard. My motherboard was a 24 pin and I had a 20 pin power supply. Had to buy an adapter to connect it properly. But because you are not building, i don't know.

Some more online research revealed that the power supplies in these machines were prone to fail in such a way as to fry the motherboard.
Sounds like what happened to me.
I guess this is a case for a brain and nervous system transplant.
Thanks anyway.
