I want to encrypt all my data. I have downloaded TrueCrypt but I'm not sure if this is what I'm looking for. I want all my files to be encrypted and once I decide to open the file it will decrypt. The rest of the files should remain encrypted.

Does TrueCrypt do that?
 
I believe TrueCrypt just makes a Encrypted Volume of whatever size you want to store the data in. All the files become available when you open the Volume with the password.
 
How is this arrangement going to work? Are you going to have to enter a password every time a file or folder is accessed? If you are referring to all data that could be quite a pain to work with.
 
I was thinking of having a very secure user password for my login. From there every file is encrypted but if I click to open it, it is then decrypted. Once I log out every is then encrypted again.
