Trying not to reload windows

I would like to swap hard drives between my desktop and my entertainment computers. Right now I have a 250GB HD in my desktop, and my entertainment computer (which I use as a DVR) has only a 120 GB HD. I would like to have the larger drive in the computer I am recording video on, but I am afraid if I simply swap the two drives, windows will see too many changes and I will have to completely reload both systems.

Is there an easier way to make the swap, or am I going to have to go the long route?

There's no real easy way to do it unless you have ghost images of the drives or something like that. You could do repair installs but windows will still say there were a lot of hardware changes and make you reactivate, but you wont have to reload all the softare.

Would it make sense to pick up a couple of 20 GB drives to load windows, and just use the larger drives as slaves for storage?
