Scratch my previous post I was not thinking in my budget and got carried away, so this is what I am looking for, but I need opinions.

Processor: Intel i7

MoBo: Asus x58 ( I hear they are good) with SLI compatability for maybe x2 285's

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 285

Tower: Not really specific just something that is big and keeps the stuff inside nice and cool.

Monitor: I need help here. I have no idea what to look for.

Ram: Same as above. I am clueless

Aything else I am open for suggestion.

BTW the games I will be playing are SC2 when it comes out and Diablo 3. So I would like them to look pretty, but mostly I am in to EVE Online and Counter Strike Source, so not a biggy there with graphics.

Thanks alot guys I really apprciate any advice.

Ok. First off, are you on a budget? If you are then I don't think that the i7 is right for you (that's if you're on a budget, if you're not then go for it)

With your tower, make sure you emphasize on coolness. Those gaming rigs can get pretty hot.

Monitor. I'd recommend brands such as Samsung, Acer - stuff like that. It all depends on how big you want it to be (19", 22", 24" etc..)

RAM- I highly recommend Corsair RAM - the GB will be determined once I am cognate of your budget numbers. Then I can give you some insight on what MHz freq. and GB stuff like that.

Hard drives come into the matter or do you already have hard drives...? Western Digital is absolutely AMAZING at making hard drives.

GPU/MOBO - Again, I can determine what's right for you when I know what your budget is and how much you're willing to put into this rig.

Gaming rig's aren't very cheap - depending on what you want and how good you want it. You could spend 300$ on a GPU easily.

So yeah :)

For mobo, i would look into the foxconn bloodrage, excellent overclocking board with sli support. For memory, i would look into G.skill, they have some excellent kits for triple channel ddr3, and you can pick up some 8-8-8-21 1600mhz for just under $100 from them. For your display, asus makes excellent displays, can pick up 1920x1080 21." monitor for around $160 off newegg. What is your overall budget for this system and does that budget include os/keyboard/mouse?

i just got my asus p6t deluxe v2 and i'll put my build together tomorrow so i'll tell u how good that motherboard is :P

Why would you suggest foxcon bloodrage over ASUS?
And also, why would you suggest G.skill over Corsair?

Asus monitor - I forgot about those... :)

Because the bloodrage bar none is the best board as far as price to performance, not only does it have air, but it comes with both a ln2/dry ice pot for the northbridge, as well as a waterblock for the northbridge. It has excellent overclocking abilities and supports both sli and crossfire. G.skill over corsair, thats easy, because corsair you either pay $190 for dominators that have same timings as the g.skill, or get standard corsair memory with 9-9-9-27 timings for still more cost than g.skill. With g.skill, 8-8-8-21 1600mhz memory is $99.99:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145222<= $109.99 for higher timings
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145224 $159 for similar, but slightly higher timings than the g.skill

Which actually... for less than the cost of the dominators, you can get 2000mhz from gskill: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231254

For PSU, go with a quality brand such as FSP, Antec, Corsair, Pcpower&Cooling, OCZ, BFG, Xclio, Zalman, and a few others.

Sooo what about performance with the G.skill? How long do they last under a stressful environment? I've had a Corsair for 5-6 years now, under a lot of stress (even switched it to a couple different rigs) and it's still amazing. There prices might be a little higher, but you get what you pay for - something that lasts.

Yes, performance is mainly measure by frequency and latency. Plus G.skill has a lifetime warranty on all products, plenty of members here will testify to the quality of g.skill memory.
