trying to install xp

hey, im trying to install xp pro onto a vista laptop but when i pop in the xp disc, it can't find the hard drive. i think that vista is blocking it. anybody know why this is happening?
 
Is it a SATA drive that you have? you may need to install the SATA drivers during start of install where it asks you to press F6
 
im not sure if its a sata, this is for my friend so idk. ill be able to find the drivers. anything else that can be blocking it?

Well if you are doing the boot process correctly then this issue will be outside of the Vista OS, so I can't see how it could be affecting it. I still think it will be a case of loading the appropriate SATA drivers from a floppy. ;)
 
Most likely lack of a SATA driver. Just find a generic SATA driver and slipstream it to a disk using nLite.
