Trying to play game, doesn't work

I have some old games that I haven't played for a long time, never with my new computer build. They are old Tom Clancy games. Never could play Black Thorn with my old system and thought I'd try it again with the new system. I have Rainbow Six and Rainbow Six Eagle watch that I could play with my old system, just never Black Thorn. Well, I can't play any of them with my new system. I installed the software, put the CD in and when I click on play, the screen goes black for about 5 seconds, then goes back to windows. I thought Norton was messing with it so I uninstalled that. Some parental control kept loading up all the time and I never even turned it on, thought that might have something to do with it. But it still doesn't work. I'm running XP with sp1, windows blinds, AIboost, and creativelabs sound controler. My computer has a junk 2.7Ghz Celeron running at 3.112Ghz with AIboost, ASUS P4P800 SE mobo, 512 DDR400 in dual channel, 350W power supply that seems to struggle keeping up, Ancient MX420 graphics card (could play rainbow six on that though), and Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy sound card. My old system that could play rainbow six was an AMD K6 475 mhz with 256 Ram. I've tried reinstalling the software but that doesn't help at all. Screen just goes black for about 5 seconds and goes back into windows. Any thoughts? Thanks

What OS were these games designed for? If they're older then XP, and especially XP SP2, then it's probably a conflict with the security updates included with SP2. I had a few games not work right after installing this update, and that turned out to be the problem...

He said he had SP1.
i can play Rainbow Six fine on my comp... dont know what would be keeping you up.

OH, I have SP2, not SP1. Do I need SP1 also? Anyways, here are the specs for the game

Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP
Pentium® II 450 MHz processor or higher
128 MB of RAM
DirectX 8.0 or higher
16 MB DirectX 8.0 compatible 3D video card
2 GB minimum hard drive space
4X or better CD-ROM
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
TCP/IP connection at 28.8 KBPS or faster(for multiplayer)

No other thoughts? Could it be the CD's are old and aren't in the best of shape? The games install but the CD's are pretty scratched up. I woudn't think they would even install if they were too scratched up.

I've tried the compatability in XP, no luck, I've tried downloading patches, no luck, tried reinstalling, no luck. I'm giving up. I guess my system can't play them. I've tried it with Rainbow Six, Eagle Watch, Ghost Recon, Falcon 4.0. Screen goes black for about 5 seconds, then goes back to windows. Games seem to install fine, just wont play. Any other thoughts or do I just need to get new games?
