Tuner Card

I have been thinking about getting a Tuner card so i can watch TV on my computer and have a few questions:

1. Do i need a cable that runs from the wall to the tuner card?
2. Would i be able to watch any sports game i wanted?
3. Do i need a video card with tv output if i just want to watch? I have a Geforce 6200. Is this sufficient?
4. Is there a good card that you would recommend that's around $50 or less?

Thank a lot.:)

A tuner card is just like a tv tuner on your television. You still need access to a coax output from your wall and no you will not be able to randomly decide what programs you can watch. Its the same as turning on a tv in your house

I'm by no means an expert on Tv Tuner Cards, but when I had mine, it attached to a small aerial which sat on top of my computer desk.
As far as what you'd be able to watch goes, i'm not sure. Mine only picked up free to air stations.

You might need a better graphics card, i know i had trouble using the tv tuner in an older computer. They will usually have the system requirements on the side of the tv tuner box. Would be a good idea to check them out.

For $50 you could get an 8500GT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133238
or something similar.

Hmm, this all seems somewhat complicated. I don't have an extra cable or output on my wall that works. I just don't want to buy a card and have awful performance because of my computer. I might just think about it for the time being... My questions are answered which is what i wanted, so thanks a lot!

Depends on what kind of tuner you buy. The newer ATSC Tuners can pick up over-the-air HD channels with an antenna. Otherwise, you connect your cable line to the tuner and the picture outputs through your graphics card.
