turion or centrino technology better with laptops?

yes centrino... but i hear to stay away from the core duo's... i guess they aren't a real dual core cpu... it's a single core cpu the emulates a dual core... more or less like intel did with hyper-threading technology in the pentium 4's

Uhh.. that's not true. Core Duo's are true dual-cores, there not simply one core with hyper threading. You can also see from benchmarks that it does about twice as good with dual-core enabled than with just one core. I even had a core duo, and it deffinetly was a dual-core.

The Intel Core Duo is by far one of the best desktop/notebook CPU's out there.

I would have to agree. I recently got a Core Duo laptop and its amazing. The speed when multitasking is incredible, it also has very good battery life. I am very happy with it.

my laptop has a turion, and plays better than my mates laptop that has a centrino, they are both basically the same specs apart from the processor

What was his processor? Im guessing a Pentium M.

what laptop did you get?

it was a 1.73ghz pentium m with all the marks of a centrino so it was a centrino laptop.
I can see yours winning that competition, but deffinetly not against a Core Duo.

Geoff... i said i HEARD... i haven't done that much research into them... but thanks for clearing it up...

Hmm, I need to benchmark my laptop now and see how it fairs. Probly mid-range or so I would imagine. Need to upgrade to more RAM.

Sempron's are decent, but they no way compare to a Core Duo.
