Turning off Vertical Sync on 8600 GT

I got this card but they changed how you mess around with the settings, I'm trying to find where the vertical sync is located and change it from app controlled to "off"

Anyone who has this card know where to find this? I've tried looking in both standard and advanced view options but can't find it.

I don't know the answer to your question, but what does Vertical Sync do?

Vertical Synchronisation is limiting the FPS to the refresh rate of the monitor. For an LCD this is typically 60Hz.

When gaming is it good to have it on or off?

In Far Cry I turned it on and it slowed down big time.

go into control panel -. display -> settings/advanced the click on 8600GT tab on top it will be in there

No dice when I do that (I know what your talking about I usually turned it off the way you were suggestion) it leads to this. Now I goto this and I know don't how to get back to the other old classic way.

I figured it out. Just as I suspected the 8 series cards have changed the way you change this setting. Make sure you have the latest driver for your card (get it from www.nvidia.com) then in NVIDIA Control Panel (choose advance) and goto 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings
