TV as a monitor?

I want to run my laptop to a TV for a upcoming football game. You can buy a package to view the games online, so that is not a problem. I am worried about the picture qaulity. Is there a way I can do this that will not ruin the picture quality?

the quality will be poorer than on screen and you wil need to drop the resolution depending on the TV, but a simple vga to rca/scart will do the job

Thanks for the help. Do I drop the resolution on the computer? When you say the quality will be poorer, will it still be worth watching? Better than a TV with an antennae?

You can get This Cable from ebay or other places, which plugs into your VGA socket on the laptop and gives you an RCA video output that would connect to you TV... the cable is very short so you would need to buy an RCA extension cable to.

There is normaly a video output "function key" on laptops that lets you select what type of video to output from the VGA connector. Check if the "F1, F2, F3, etc..." keys on your keyboard for a little Monitor symbol.
