TV through a PC

My NVidia graphics card is equipped with a TV out function, but I only have a 56k dial-up. Will the speed of my internet connection affect my ability to receive TV pix? Broadband is not an option for me.
 
Ahmmm...

Unless your card has a video input, you cannot view TV on your PC. Note that the speed of your connection will greatly affect the quality of video streams you can receive. With a 56k modem, forget it :). I would advise you to get a TV tuner card which can capture normal TV airwaves and allow you to watch TV on your PC. Ask more questions if this did not answer anything.

If you're talking about local stations that's fine but if he wants cable he needs to get a card with a co-ax in so he can pull it from the station over the wires. Cable TV doesn't use airwaves and it's not really worth it to buy a tuner card that can only pick up 1-13 or whatever you locals are there. Also the speed of your connection has nothing to do with a TV tuner card. In fact you don't even need to be connected to the internet to use it.

P.S. Some tuners come with FM also :)
P.P.S. I am also selling an Nvidia FX5200 Personal Cinema which has a tuner built into the GFx card.

I have an Nvidia G-Force 4 FX5200, which does have a TV out and also, I think, a co-ax. I'll dig out the manual when I get home from work and post the full spec onto it. If I could connect my TV aerial direct, it would save me having to buy a separate TV.

The only FX5200 that came with a co-ax is the one I mentioned above the Personal Cinema one. It was meant to compete with the Radeon's AIW's but it sorta fell short in the graphics part of it. It's really nice for the Tuner though.
